I sit here trying to do homework and write a paper but all I can do is constantly check the ever so fast updating of espn.com I was checking only for the score of the Sox v. Rockies game but then something awful happened. Some miserable article just came to to the top reading; Sources: A-Rod to opt of contract.
I felt like David Ortiz just fell on top of me from a five story building. Crushed, couldn't move by body went numb with emotion. In the matter of a few hours I'm watching as the NEW evil empire win its second World Series in four years and the AL MVP walk away from the most lucrative contract offer in the history of professional sports because he wasn't sure what his other teammates were going to do.
The days of Scott Brosious, Paul O'Neil, Bernie Williams, and Tino Martinez are long behind us now. A new era is approaching and it' an era I am terrified to be a part of.
We shall see if the young guns of the Yankees pitching staff make a name for itself, and if the bats of other Bronx Bombers can come alive next season but if both or either of these fail to happen who knows what is to happen of the New York Yankees.
So maybe the tides have begun to change or maybe "curse" is now upon the men in pinstripes. Whatever shall happen my faith will stay with the Yankees, but I wish it wasn't so damn hard.
