I wish I had enough talent to play in the NBA. I wish I had enough talent to play on a high school basketball team. Unfortunately I don’t, I never will and that’s something I have come to grips with. However if I Had enough talent to play in any professional sport I would be out there with a smile on my face and a hop in my step because it would be an incredible opportunity that only a few special athletes will ever get to accomplish.
On Christmas day when Cavaliers’ PG Damion Jones and GF Ira Newble decided they didn’t want play against the Heat something inside of me snapped. How could two professional athletes who are living out their childhood dreams disrespect the game they love so much?
With a minute to go in the Cavs 96-82 victory both Jones and Newble refused to enter the game in the last minute of play. Jones did not comment on the situation, but Newble claimed he did not enter the game because he was not physically ready to enter the game.
"Regardless on how much time is on the clock, I'm going 100 percent every time I step on the court," Newble said, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Not being loose enough, you could possibly pull something."
The Cavliers have fined Jones an undisclosed amount, it is unknown if Newble has also been fined according to he Plain Dealer. Cavs coach Mike Brown had no additional comment on the matter. It is unlikely that either player will be suspended.
Here’s a message not only to Jones and Newble but to all players in the NBA: Whether you’re on the court at tip off or coming in for mop up duty, it is my personal belief that no player should ever give less than a hundred percent when they’re on the court. Giving any less is not only disrespectful to yourself but to your teammates, your organization, and the fans that pay a hefty ticket price to watch you play.

Its roots stem back merely eight months ago, but in that short time strides have been taken to ensure that the JMU nation as well as the Harrisonburg community would be given an unparalleled sports talk show. Week 16: It's Now or Never
Nothing too spectacular happened in the NFL last week, in fact I can’t really think of anything worth writing about. There was Brett Favre who broke another one of Dan Marino’s records, the Patriots did take another step towards perfection, the Buccaneers returned their first kickoff for a touchdown in team history while clinching the NFC south, the Vikings continued their unbelievable journey to the postseason, Mario Williams posted three and a half sacks, and really that’s about it.
I’m sorry, I completely forgot there was one unforgettable moment. Cleo Lemon’s 64-yard pass to Greg Camarillo to beat the Baltimore Ravens in overtime and finally remove that overbearing monkey off their shoulders to get one into the win column and that's about it.
Last weeks stats weren’t too impressive, an overall 9-7. If I was an NFC team that’s all I would need to make the playoffs (do do cha) but I want be the best, and to be the best I have to challenge myself. So that’s why this week I’m going for at least eleven wins here, otherwise I’ll put on a dress and sing Christmas Carols to all my adoring neighbors.
Week 16 has four NFC teams fighting for survival. The fate of the Giants, Vikings, Redskins, and Saints will be determined in the next two weeks. Tampa Bay and Seattle are in a deadlock for the third and fourth seeds, while Dallas and Green Bay each have a legitimate shot at the highly coveted number one spot.
In the AFC things are a lot less exciting but there's still some drama unfolding. The Texans and Titans are looking from the outside (way outside) in, while Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Pittsburgh are still awaiting where they will sit come the playoffs.
Upset specials are a dish that will likely be served more than once in the NFL's final weeks. Dinner and a show, get excited because I am delighted to give you this junkies expert picks for week 16.
1) Pittsburgh at St. Louis (Thursday night)- A few weeks ago the debate was raging between the Colts and Steelers to see who was the second best team in the AFC, now the debate is between the Browns and the Steelers to see who is the second best team in the AFC North. The Rams don’t have too much to brag about, their moral will sink a little lower as the fall on national TV. Pittsburgh over St. Louis 24-9
2) Dallas at Carolina- Dallas was upset by the Eagles last week, Tony Romo bruised his throwing hands and his reputation after his three interception performance, center Andre Gurode isn’t expected to play, and Roy Williams will have to serve his one game suspension for his third horse collar tackle this year, so what? The Panthers are awful. Even with all the setbacks the Cowboys get back on track. Dallas over Carolina 16-6
3) Cleveland at Cincinnati- Can the Bengals beat anybody? The Browns are going to be in the playoffs, but will it be as a wildcard or AFC North champ? Romeo Crennel should be coach of the year, Derek Anderson, Kellen Winslow, and Jamal Lewis should be in the Pro-Bowl, this team still has a lot to prove. It was a shoot out the first time these teams matched up 51-45, don’t expect another high scoring game from a Bengals team who couldn’t muster enough to beat the lonely 49ers. The Browns win in fashion 28-10.
4) New York Giants at Buffalo- Imagine if the Giants lose and they’re forced into a must win game versus New England? If the Giants lose this game and go to New England they could be out of the playoff picture. Once again Eli has crashed and burned the second half of the season, and the loss of Jeremy Shockey is just about the worst thing that could happen to the G-Men during these next critical games. The Giants can't catch a break or the ball, it looks like the Giants will be watching the playoffs from their homes. The Bills have nothing to lose since they’re out of it, I smell an upset of epic proportions here. Buffalo over New York 23-17
5) Kansas City at Detroit- I know what you’re thinking, who cares? Both teams are riding extensive losing streaks, and after strong starts both teams have sputtered away. Roy Williams was put on IR this week that doesn’t help a Lions team whose offense has only been able to keep two of their last six straight losses close. Jon Kitna promised us 10 wins, he won’t get it but he’ll win this weekend. Detroit over Kansas City 26-18
6) Houston at Indianapolis- Mario Williams is a beast, he has done nothing but silence his critics this year. His 13 sacks are 2nd in the league; he’s also forced two fumbles, recovered one, and scored a touchdown. He is the most obvious Pro-Bowl snub and he’ll bring passion this weekend to an Indianapolis team who has already secured another AFC South title and a first round bye. Believe it or not I’m taking the Houston Texans over the Indianapolis Colts 38-36
7) Green Bay at Chicago- I’m pretty sure Brett Favre won’t set any records this weekend, but he’ll take his team one step closer to the top NFC seed. The Bears are awful on offense; Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, Brian Griese, whoever you stick back there can’t get any production. Packers are right back in it for the #1 seed in the NFC don’t look for them to slow down. Green Bay over Chicago 24-9
8) Oakland at Jacksonville- Fred Taylor came back last week and upset Pittsburgh, David Garrard is becoming a field general out there and the Jaguars are becoming a team that nobody wants to play. Oakland lost Justin Fargas last week for the season, but on a bright note first overall pick JaMarcus Russell might get some substantial playing time this week, other than that it’s another lousy season for the Raider faithful. Jacksonville over Oakland 45-24
9) Philadelphia at New Orleans- From a 0-4 start to smelling playoffs for the second season in a row, the Saints might just be able to turn their awful start around and make it in again. Drew Brees should be in the Pro-Bowl but he could care less, he wants in the playoffs and the Saints offense is going to unleash everything they have. The Eagles have been eliminated but Andy Reid isn’t going to hold back anything they’ll put up a fight. The Saints have their backs against the wall; even without Reggie Bush this team still has a lot of talent. New Orleans over Philadelphia 27-16
10) Tampa Bay at San Francisco- All that’s left for the Buccaneers is deciding whether they’ll be the third or fourth seed. Both Seattle and Tamp Bay are 9-5 and luckily for the Bucs this game is a must win against a lackluster opponent. Tampa Bay over San Francisco 27-10
11) Atlanta at Arizona- Both teams are out, and both teams have had abysmal seasons. The Falcons have had probably the worst season any NFL team has ever had in the leagues history, and probably won’t win another game this season. Kurt Warner is back to his old fashion and Larry Fitzgerald just cashed in on another Pro-Bowl appearance, Cardinals are a better team they will win this on. Arizona over Atlanta 24-9
12) Miami at New England- The Dolphins won once can they do it again? Absolutely not, Cleo Lemon might have own AFC Offensive Player of the week last week but he’s going to have pressure in his face till the cows come home. Do we expect the Patriots to give up their pursuit of perfection even though they have claimed the AFC East title, a first round bye, and home field advantage? No sir. New England over Miami 34-13
13) Baltimore at Seattle- When we thought things couldn’t get worse for the Ravens they just did. A proud team who stood strong against the leagues best fell to the absolute worst. Seattle is fighting for that third spot and is not going to let the Ravens stand in their way, especially at home. The Ravens losing streak reaches an alarming nine games as Seattle beats Baltimore 27-23
14) New York Jets at Tennessee- It’s unlikely but the Titans can still sneak into the playoffs, while the Jets are in dire need of an off season vacation. Titans keep their slim dreams alive, Tennessee over New York 29-12
15) Washington at Minnesota (Sunday night)- A win here does not guarantee either team a trip to the playoffs but it sure helps. However if Washington loses they are officially out. Tavaris Jackson played in quite possibly his worst professional start but still managed to pull out a win last week over Chicago. Neither team has a spectacular passing game, but both run offenses are a force to be reckoned with. Minnesota has the edge in nearly every category and the game is in the Metrodome where the Vikings are 5-2 this year. It’ll be a close one but the Vikings win their sixth straight and make their unbelievable playoff push. Minnesota over Washington 28-20.
16) Denver at San Diego (MNFL)- Norv Turner finally understands why L.T. won the MVP last year, he’s a pretty good running back. Denver ranks 29th in the league against the rush and that’s not good news for a San Diego team playing with the passion of last years 14-2 club. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall have the making of a legit threat, but that’s for the future. The here and now suggest San Diego will punish Denver. San Diego over Denver 31-14

Super Mario was Snubbed!
Nearly twenty months ago NFL fans around the world sat in shock when they found out the Houston Texans were going to use the number one overall pick on defensive end Mario Williams. There was the Heisman running back from USC, who was supposed to be the consensus number one pick in the draft Reggie Bush. If that didn't fit their appetite there was always the second best option, hometown hero Vince Young. Even with the enormous pressure from fans and media outlets worldwide the Texans stood firm on their choice.
It’s funny how time changes people. Twenty months later the ‘boo’s are no longer pulsating at Reliant Stadium in Houston instead the jubilation can be heard throughout Texas as “MARIOOOOOOOOO WILLLLIAMMMS” name is announced over the loud speaker. Public opinion on Williams has shot through the roof, the former number one overall pick has gone from blooper to super in just two short seasons.
The criticism and questioning is over, Mario Williams has shut us all up with his spectacular 2007 season, all that was left to cap off this coming out party should’ve been a trip to Hawaii to play in the Pro-Bowl. Unfortunately somewhere along the way the players, fans, and coaches forgot to check off his name on the ballot.
Williams is second in the league with his 13.0 sacks, half a sack behind Seattle’s Patrick Kearney for the league lead. If the sacks were not enough to sway the Pro-Bowl voters he has also managed to force two fumbles, recover another, and even score a defensive touchdown, then there's his fifty-three tackles, thirty-seven which have been solo.
Those stats are the reason why he has won the AFC defensive player twice this season in week 14 and week 15. No other AFC defensive player has accomplished that feat this year.
Of the defensive ends on the AFC roster only Jared Allen is also ranked in the top 10 for sacks (6th-11.5) and has more tackles than Williams (58, 50 solo.)
Above all else it’s not only Williams’ individual accomplishments that should have been enough to garner him a first-class ticket to the Pro-Bowl, but it is what he has helped the Texans accomplish as well. A 7-7 record as well as a slim chance that they could slip their way into the playoffs for the first time in team history.
The Texans had never had a winning season in their brief existence; they’ve never even had a .500 record. With Williams’ emergence the team surely has a bright future on the horizon, but in the present when what is said and done now matters, Williams has clearly proven that he is deserving of a spot on the AFC roster.

In other Pro-Bowl news for the first time in the games history an entire division was shut out from sending a player. The NFC South was not awarded a roster spot for any of it’s players, a travesty considering who they have to send.
Drew Brees- NO QB 4th ranked qb rating 92.1. 3,819 passing yards, 25 td 15 int.
Marques Colston- NO WR-1,092 rec yds, 9td, 13 receptions of 20+ yards
Jahari Evans- NO Guard- Saints have allowed the league low in sacks
Ronde Barber- TB CB- 58 tackles, 2 int, 1 td.
Jeff Garcia- TB QB- 93.6 qb rating, 12 td 4 int, lead Bucs to NFC South title.
DeAngelo Hall- ATL CB- 5 int, 58 tackles, and 1 forced fumble.
It's a disturbing feeling when names become more important than talent. Guys like Matt Hassleback, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu and Chris Samuels are great players, just not this year. There comes a time when someone should be able to put down their foot and let guys like Fred Taylor, David Garrard, Trent Cole and others should get their chance--they've already proven that they deserve to be.
KEY MATCH UP: Tennessee’s Albert Haynesworth will be going up against Dallas’s Andre Gurode, you may remember this match up from last years infamous face stomping which resulted in a four game suspension for Haynesworth last season.
ATTACK OF THE ROOKIES: Minnesota’s running back Adrian Peterson and Dallas’s kicker Nick Folk will be the only two rookies starting in the Pro-Bowl.
A CLASS OF THEIR OWN: Minnesota, Dallas, and New England each will send six starters to Hawaii.

The criticism and questioning is over, Mario Williams has shut us all up with his spectacular 2007 season, all that was left to cap off this coming out party should’ve been a trip to Hawaii to play in the Pro-Bowl. Unfortunately somewhere along the way the players, fans, and coaches forgot to check off his name on the ballot.
Williams is second in the league with his 13.0 sacks, half a sack behind Seattle’s Patrick Kearney for the league lead. If the sacks were not enough to sway the Pro-Bowl voters he has also managed to force two fumbles, recover another, and even score a defensive touchdown, then there's his fifty-three tackles, thirty-seven which have been solo.
Those stats are the reason why he has won the AFC defensive player twice this season in week 14 and week 15. No other AFC defensive player has accomplished that feat this year.
Of the defensive ends on the AFC roster only Jared Allen is also ranked in the top 10 for sacks (6th-11.5) and has more tackles than Williams (58, 50 solo.)
Above all else it’s not only Williams’ individual accomplishments that should have been enough to garner him a first-class ticket to the Pro-Bowl, but it is what he has helped the Texans accomplish as well. A 7-7 record as well as a slim chance that they could slip their way into the playoffs for the first time in team history.
The Texans had never had a winning season in their brief existence; they’ve never even had a .500 record. With Williams’ emergence the team surely has a bright future on the horizon, but in the present when what is said and done now matters, Williams has clearly proven that he is deserving of a spot on the AFC roster.

In other Pro-Bowl news for the first time in the games history an entire division was shut out from sending a player. The NFC South was not awarded a roster spot for any of it’s players, a travesty considering who they have to send.
Drew Brees- NO QB 4th ranked qb rating 92.1. 3,819 passing yards, 25 td 15 int.
Marques Colston- NO WR-1,092 rec yds, 9td, 13 receptions of 20+ yards
Jahari Evans- NO Guard- Saints have allowed the league low in sacks
Ronde Barber- TB CB- 58 tackles, 2 int, 1 td.
Jeff Garcia- TB QB- 93.6 qb rating, 12 td 4 int, lead Bucs to NFC South title.
DeAngelo Hall- ATL CB- 5 int, 58 tackles, and 1 forced fumble.
It's a disturbing feeling when names become more important than talent. Guys like Matt Hassleback, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu and Chris Samuels are great players, just not this year. There comes a time when someone should be able to put down their foot and let guys like Fred Taylor, David Garrard, Trent Cole and others should get their chance--they've already proven that they deserve to be.
KEY MATCH UP: Tennessee’s Albert Haynesworth will be going up against Dallas’s Andre Gurode, you may remember this match up from last years infamous face stomping which resulted in a four game suspension for Haynesworth last season.
ATTACK OF THE ROOKIES: Minnesota’s running back Adrian Peterson and Dallas’s kicker Nick Folk will be the only two rookies starting in the Pro-Bowl.
A CLASS OF THEIR OWN: Minnesota, Dallas, and New England each will send six starters to Hawaii.

Unlikely Vikings playoff bound (almost)
The Minnesota Vikings under second year head coach Brad Childress are in a situation no one thought that they would be, holding on strongly to the last NFC spot in the playoffs. Who would have thunk it?
The team nearly sunk by the infamous sex boat scandal two years ago is back afloat. A team who started 3-6 ( 5-14 dating back to last years last ten games) and who many experts predicted at the bottom of the NFC North are just one win away from making its first trip to the playoffs in three years.
Two seasons removed from the departure of former MVP quarterback Daunte Culpepper, two seasons removed from the firing of head coach Mike Tice and a sex boat scandal that rocked the league; the Vikings are on pace to do something unparalleled in NFL history.
The Vikings are the leagues best rushing team, on both sides of the ball. Behind rookie sensation Adrian Peterson and proven veteran Chester Taylor the Vikes are averaging 172.2 yards per game. It doesn't hurt that the left side of their offensive line is anchored by three pro-bowlers in center Matt Birk, guard Steve Hutchison, and tackle Bryant McKinnie.
The Purple People Eaters of the past are back and in "gung-ho" fashion. The defense led by tackles Pat and Kevin Williams are giving opposing running backs no where to run, giving up an average of 70.7 ypg, seven yards less then then the next best team. With last years first round pick Chad Greenway back after a season ending injury last year, along with the impressive play of a young linebacker core the Purple People Eaters are looking near unstoppable, nearly.
The achilles heal of this defense however is a large one. Opposing offensives have been able to pass all over the Vikings--who are giving up 273.3 ypg. Even with the phenomenal play of Antoine Winfield and Darren Sharper (combined six interceptions) opposing quarterbacks have had a field day lighting up the Vikings secondary this season.
With a rush defense ranked first, and a pass defense ranked dead last the Vikings have still managed a respectable 8-6 record. Even with a lousy pass defense the Vikings only give up 18.4 points per game, 8th in the league and only two points more than the New England Patriots.
Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson has improved drastically the second half of the season. With the exception of his absolutely awful performance against Chicago on monday night, Jackson has been a dependable starter thorwing five touchdowns and two interceptions during Minnesota's four game winning streak (before his four interception performance on MNF.) Don't get me wrong he's no offensive machine, but the parts are there for him to lead his team down the stretch.
The Vikings might be as Tony Kornheiser described them, "a team in the playoffs, but not a playoff team." It's not how you start, it's how you finish. If the Vikings win out and make the playoffs they will be riding a seven game winning streak into either Tampa Bay or Seattle, and if I was them I'd much rather play a lackluster Giants team who once again has backed their way into the playoffs.
No matter how this season ends it'll be a good one for a team many predicted to be last in the NFC North. Week 15: Plenty on the line
Here we are, nearing the end of another glorious NFL season. With week 15 upon us, many teams are already looking towards their offseason vacations-but for the lucky 12 playoffs are on the horizon. Minnesota snuck into the NFC playoff picture last week, while Cleveland is holding on for dear life in the AFC. Here we go, week 15 picks of each and every game.
1) Denver at Houston- Everyone is looking at the Patriots v. Jets teacher pupil match but here's the lesser known rivalry. Not only is Gary Kubiak Mike Shannhan's pupil but he also has his former teacher's son on his staff. Neither team is a powerhouse but both are still alive in the AFC race, until one of them loses this game. Houston turns the ball over to Sage Rosenfels, but the Texans are 4-1 when Ron Dayne gets 20+ carries this year. Not to forget Mario Williams has 9.5 sacks. Houston over Denver 28-14
2) Cincinnati at San Francisco- Not much to say, two very disappointing performances from teams with so much promise coming off of last season. The Bengals win this one in a rout, 41-24
3) Jacksonville at Pittsburgh- Do the Jaguars have what it takes to compete in the AFC? In need of a win to solidify a wildcard spot we shall see, unfortunately they have to play a Steelers team that was upstaged on every side of the ball last week. Pittsburgh wins this one 20-16
4) Atlanta at Tampa Bay- Who would of thought that the Falcons could have another astonishing turn to their season? Bobby Petrino is a fake and a coward it's in Atlanta's best interest he's gone, this season was lost for the Falcons before it even started. Tampa Bay wins this one, wins the division and looks towards the future. Bucs 35-9
5) Seattle at Carolina- Seattle has won 5 straight and their fourth straight division, the Panthers are awful. Seahawks are fighting for that third spot in the NFC, they'll win 38-14
6) Green Bay at St. Louis- Green Bay needs all but to win out to clinch that number one NFC spot, but its' still a possibility. The Rams are so bad that Gus Freotte has been demoted to third string. Green Bay 38-20
7) Baltimore at Miami- This is an interesting one, Baltimore started 4-1 but has dropped seven straight. Miami started off 0-5 and has dropped nine since. The Ravens will most likely win this one and end their drastic collapse, although it won't be too much to brag about. Ravens 17-14
8) NY Jets at New England- I want to believe that the Patriots will meet the spread (24 points,) if we thought Belichick was mean to the Redskins going for it on fourth down when up by a massive amount just wait till this week when he unleashes his full arsenal of destruction against a terrible Jets team. Patriots 55-13
9) Arizona at New Orleans- Kurt Warner is playing like he did in St.Louis but his recievers aren't showing the results. At 6-7 both teams are right in it the NFC, loser of this game loses all hope however. The Saints don't have Reggie Bush but that didn't stop them last week from destroying the Falcons. It's a coin flip but I'm taking the Saints 31-27
10) Buffalo at Cleveland- The Bills are the seventh seed in the AFC? WHAT? The Browns are the sixth? WHAT? A game full of playoff implications, however because it is the Cleveland Dog Pound look for a stuttering Browns team to pull this one off. Browns 35-21.
11) Tennessee at Kansas City- The Titans lost a heartbreaker last week to San Diego and with that overtime loss left any chance of a playoff run this year. Kansas City is awful, absolutely awful. Herm Edwards has already been rumored to talk to UCLA so we will see if he ditches out after two mediocre seasons in KC. The Titans haven't won in Kansas City in something like their last fourteen trips but they are a team of the future, it's time for change. They'll win this one 17-10.
12) Indianapolis at Oakland- It's rumored that #1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell might get some playing time. Whatever it takes, Oakland isn't the worst team in the NFL anymore, Kiffin has done a great job taking his team out of the basement and into the light. Unfortunately the Colts are about to clinch their division...again...and the #2 seed in the AFC. Colts 42-17
13) Detroit at San Diego- So much for Kitna's 10 game guarantee the Lions have lost 5 straight games while the Chargers are finally (almost) hitting on all cylinders. The Chargers will win this one and take away all hope of a Lion's postseason. Chargers 28-24.
14) Philadelphia at Dallas- A classic matchup, unfortunately the TO factor really stopped being all that exciting in this game. Dallas will win this one in what might be McNabb's final appearance in Texas as an Eagle. Don't expect a blowout but the Cowboys win this one as they inch closer to locking up the NFC's #1 spot. Dallas 38-24
15) Washington at NY Giants- Week 3 it seemed as if all hope had left the Giants and then something miraculous happened. A fourth quarter explosion from the Giants topped off by a Goal Line stand to win the game propelled them to a six game winning streak where their offense was strong and their defense was absolutely dominant. The Redskins are all but out this year, but maybe Todd Collins has something wrapped up his sleeve? Giants win this one, clinch the a wildcard spot and prolong Tom Coughlin's stay in New York. Giants 27-16
16) (MNFL) Chicago at Minnesota- The Vikings lead the league in yards per carry and their run defense is #1 in the league, now add in a Tavarias Jackson who hasn't thrown an interception in three games, you've got yourself a pretty dangerous squad. The Bears are the NFC's biggest disappointment and look for their struggles to continue with Kyle Orton playing quarterback. Minnesota wins in fashion over their division rival 45-20.

Battle of The Sexes: Ugg Boots
They come in black and in white, with spots and with stripes. They come in short and in tall, in winter and the fall. With skirts and with stockings, Uggs are a fashion most definitely worth rocking.
Like leg warmers of the ’80s or LA Gear light-ups of the ’90s, Uggs are a stylish force rapidly engulfing the fashion world today.
But where did it all start? Uggs can trace their beginnings back to Australia and New Zealand during World War I when pilots needed light but insulated boots to stay warm in the high altitudes.
From heroic pilots to fashion divas, these boots have made their impact well known in Harrisonburg as well as around the globe.
As more than 60 percent of JMU’s enrollment is female, this movement has become a trendy way of life right in front of our very own eyes.
I have researched this craze, and when I ask to see if you ladies own a pair of Uggs the overwhelming response was, “A pair of Uggs? I have a pair for each day of the week, sweetheart.”
Considering I can’t walk from the Quad to D-Hall without seeing at least five different women sporting this trend I have to believe that they are all telling the truth.
Now let me set this straight, contrary to popular belief, I am not a fashion guru. I am just a strong supporter and an admirer of the Uggs-wearing movement.
However, I have come to realize that the majority of my fellow men here do not see eye to eye with me, who call Uggs trashy, annoying and ridiculous, and even chant “u-g-g-l-y you ain’t got no alibi.” Guys, put aside the pride and jump on the bandwagon now! By no means am I telling you to buy a pair of zebra patterned boots with the little furry balls (in fact, don’t ever do that) but just pretend that you like Uggs. At the very least it will give you a conversation topic.
If the girls here love them so much then it is safe to say that Uggs are officially a part of our every day life.
Uggs are a realization we all must face together. Like ’em, love ’em, or hate ’em, Uggs are here to turn the fashion world upside down.
Who knows if this trend will disperse, but as long as they are on Oprah’s list of favorite things or here at JMU we might as well jump on the bandwagon and say we like them too!

Sean Taylor-Madden '09?
Thousands of rumors spread on a daily occurence, in the case of a murder of a famous athlete they spread faster than the speed of light. I have read Sean Taylor will be inducted to the Hall of Fame in Canton, that Clinton Portis will wear the number 21 the rest of the year, and countless other, but the one rumor that really caught my attention was this:
'Sean Taylor for Madden cover 2009!' Whether it is a rumor or more so a petition i think it would be a flattering farewell to immortalize one of the games finest athletes. The millions around the world who play Madden religiously would get a chance to remember each time they start up their X-Box or PS3.
My personal opinion says to do it, but what if it was up to you? What if you sat in the EA Sports office and had to vote how would you act? What would you say?

So You Think You Know Sports: Top 10 GOW
It's up to Troy Polamalu and the Steelers defense to stop Tom Brady and the relentless offense of New England
1. Pittsburgh Steelers over the New England Patriots- Two weeks in a row the Patriots have been down but not out, I predicted this on my sports talk show a month or so ago and I am sticking with it. The Pittsburgh Steelers go into Foxboro and give the Patriots their first blow.
2. Chicago Bears over the Washington Redskins- Both teams are coming off heartbreaking losses, and both teams are 5-7 and still technically alive in the playoff hunt. I'll take the Bears in this one, it's not a good sign for a team when your Hall of Fame head coach doesn't know he can't call two timeouts in a row.
3. Seahawks over the Cardinals- Both teams are mediocre at best, playing in possibly the worst division in football. The Seahawks at 8-4 are on key to lock up the division while the Cardinals at 6-6 are tied for that for that final NFC Wildcard spot. Look for the Seahawks air attack to be in full attack as the Cards are down Green and Wilson in their secondary, Seattle wins by 10 and clinches another division title.
4. Dallas Cowboys over (way over) the Detroit Lions- Don't look for an upset like last season, Roy Williams is out and the Lions have dropped their last four games. The Cowboys will dominate the Lions on way to secure the #1 spot in the NFC.
5. BCS National Championship: LSU Over Ohio State- Ohio State is in the National Championship game again? WTF? While LSU is the first team in BCS bowl history to play in the national championship with two losses they will punish Jim Tressel's Buckeyes for somehow getting into this game again.
6. Fiesta Bowl- WVU over Oklahoma- An interesting bowl game? No way! If the Mountaineers play like they did against Pitt they don't stand a chance, look for Steve Slayton and Pat White to bounce back and spice things up against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.
7. Orange Bowl- Virginia Tech over Kansas- Kansas had the 109th toughest schedule in the nation, they beat one ranked opponent (24 Kansas State) Virginia Tech was one game away from the National Championship, if they could've just stood up to BC the first time things would be different. Barring major injuries or a breakdown by the two headed monster Sean Glennon and Tyrod Taylor this will be an easy as pie win for the Hokies.
8. Rose Bowl- USC over Illinois- Why isn't USC playing Georgia or Virginia Tech? The Rose Bowl is essentially a home game for the men of Troy, look for an obliteration of the fighting Illinoi, but at least they'll soak up the rays before Booty and that Trojan offense turn out the lights and prove they deserved a better opponent.
9. Sugar Bowl- Georgia over Hawaii- Hawaii is 12-0 and people all over the nation are screaming that they should be given a shot at the National Championship (they are deserving of a chance but that's neither here or there) unfortunately Georgia comes from the SEC and the SEC is pretty darn strong, I am going big here Hawaii is this years Boise State and they upset the Georgia Bulldogs.
10. Basketball- Longwood @ JMU- JMU isn't awful this year, and they're playing strong behind a rejuvenated Pierre Curtis I'm taking the Dukes by 15.
